Jon Anderson: Music
something more
(Jon Anderson)
Dedicated to everyone who served so willingly and generously in Waveland, MS - summer of 2006
We traveled with a busload of 40+ people to Waveland, MS, the summer of 2006 to come alongside those who were so devastated by hurricane Katrina. When one part of the body rejoices, we all rejoice, when one suffers, we all suffer - boy did these words come to life.
I was so inspired by the stamina and faith of the friends I worked beside during that week that this song was the result. I hope this song will encourage all of us to keep going, to not give up... to give more each day and that each time we give, even a cup of cold water, we are loving whole-heartedly.
(Em72) it came and (C2) went, the time we (G) spent
has gone so (D) quickly – if only we had:
(Em72) a little more (C2) bread, a little more (G) sweat
a little while (D) longer:
(C) is there something (G) more that (D) we can do?
(C) to spend this life – (G) purchased (D) by and just for You
(C) a small cup of (G) kindness (D) poured
in – (Asus) to a (A) thirsty (C) world…
(Em72) it’s not about (C2) me, it’s all about (G) You
and what this (D) life means in Your hands:
(Em72) broken and (C2) blessed, given and (G) sent
to be (D) daily bread to the world:
(Am7) You’re a – (C) mazing
how Your (G) saving (G/F#) love comes (Em7) down
so unde- (Am7) serving
there’s no (C) repaying, still we (D) try…
(Em72) we gather to (C2) share, huddle in (G) prayer
seeking (D) Your face… and with each step
(Em72) freely re - (C2)ceive all that we need (G)
to be Your (D) hands and feet in this world:
(C) there’s so much (G) more that (D) we can do
(C) to spend this life – (G) purchased (D) by and just for You
(C) a small cup of (G) kindness (D) poured
in – (Asus) to a (A) thirsty (C) world…
